Experience an enchanting evening of musical mastery as Erika Izaguirre takes the stage for a captivating trumpet and piano recital, featuring a mesmerizing new sonata for trumpet, an enchanting flugelhorn solo, and a diverse selection of musical delights.

About Dr. Erika Izaguirre:
Dr. Erika Izaguirre is the Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Director of the Jazz Ensemble at Concordia College. Erika leads an active career as a solo performer, teacher, and clinician. As an international soloist, she maintains a dynamic schedule recently coming off of a tour performing throughout Spain. Erika has commissioned and premiered works in Minnesota, New York, and abroad by composers John Wallace, Jorge Bennett, Dr. Daniel Breedon, and Sean William Calhoun. Recently, she was involved in three consortiums; a solo piece for trumpet and electronics by Dr. Whitney George, an unaccompanied work by Dr. Roy Magnusson to bring awareness to gun violence, and a trumpet sonata by the up-and-coming composer, Marcus Grant. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music. Currently, Erika is focused on helping young musicians and composers from underrepresented communities by elevating their voices and providing resources.

Featuring Stephen Sulich as a collaborating artist:
Stephen Sulich is Artist-in-Residence at Concordia College – Hvidsten Hall of Music. He serves as a collaborative pianist for faculty and students, a musical coach, and music preparation for lyric opera studio. He has been a guest conductor, coach, collaborative pianist, and chorus master with the Fargo-Moorhead Opera and guest artist/coach with the music departments at MSUM and NDSU. He graduated from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and has conducted at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Anchorage Opera, and the Amalfi Coast Music Festival.
