Northwest Water Carnival in Detroit Lakes
Enjoy summer fun at the Annual Northwest Water Carnival in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota is happening throughout town and on the City Beach. When it comes to celebrating summer, Detroit Lakes, Mn takes its time lasting an entire week or more in the heart of summer. A Jaycee member is selected to act as Admiral, residing over the extravaganza. One lucky girl is crowned Miss Northwest; she will later competes for the Miss Minnesota crown.
DL Cruise Nights
Be sure to check out the Annual DL Cruise Night by the Detroit Lakes Minnesota City Beach the second Wednesday of June - September (June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10). Get here early so you'll have time to look at the 200-plus buffed and shiny vintage automobiles parked along West Lake Drive. Five blocks of these beauties are a reminder of yesteryear. Don’t zoom past the cars—the lake breeze is a pleasure unto itself. When your stomach roars louder than a muffler, it’s time to head to the many bars and grills serving up pizza, burgers and more.
