Northwest Water Carnival in Detroit Lakes
Detroit Lakes Minnesota Detroit LakesEnjoy summer fun at the Annual Northwest Water Carnival in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota is happening throughout town and on the City Beach. When it comes to celebrating summer, Detroit Lakes, Mn takes its time lasting an entire week or more in the heart of summer. A Jaycee member is selected to act as Admiral, residing over the extravaganza. One lucky girl is crowned Miss Northwest; she will later competes for the Miss Minnesota crown.

Doc and the Scrubs is a big band based out of Detroit Lakes that was founded in 1991 by Dr. Bob Watson, and is comprised of area musicians, from ages 20 to over 80. The performance is free, though free will donations are accepted. Performances are each Tuesday from June to August.

Detroit Lakes Young Life Triathlon

Hundreds of participants spend the morning swimming, running and biking to the finish line. If you’re looking to get your feet wet, try the sprint course with a 500-meter swim, 20K bike ride and 2.92 mile run. Or look into the stand-up paddleboard and kayak division if you feel swimming-challenged. Make it fun with friends by entering the relay team challenge.
