2025 Street Faire at the Lakes

Street Faire at the Lakes in beautiful downtown Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on May 30-31, 2025. One hundred and twenty-five juried artists set up their paintings, sculptures, pottery, jewelry and other first-class art. Musicians stroll the sidewalks. Bands perform from a main stage, free to attendees. During the Faire, Detroit Lakes cordons off the downtown for the first, big outdoor event of the season.

There’s something for everyone at Street Faire at the Lakes. Your children will love the balloons, having their faces painted and riding on the carnival rides. You can mellow out with classic folk music or soothing Bluegrass. Or, put on your dancing shoes at the Eagles on Friday night. One hundred and twenty-five juried artists will set up their paintings, sculptures, pottery, jewelry and other first class art. Musicians stroll the sidewalks. Bands perform from a main stage, free to attendees. Come hungry (or not, you won’t be able to help yourself) as you will find yourself pulled toward the food court by its wondrous smells. It’s summer time and the Street Faire is the perfect way to begin the season.

Shopping Highlights at the Street Faire at the Lakes

Shop Friday, June 2 from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Talk to the Artists. Get to know them. They’re cool people who make really neat items for you to admire and hopefully buy!
Vote for People’s Choice: Vote for a People’s Choice Artist! Pick up a ballot at the info booth, walk the Faire and complete the ballot with your favorite artist’s name. Return ballot to the info booth.
Eat great food! The food vendors are also great folk who love cook unique, yummy food for you!
Enjoy the weather! This is the region’s first outdoor arts and craft show of the season. It could be 80 degrees and gorgeous or it could be 50 degree and blustery and rainy. Embrace it! It’s Minnesota!
Shop Local! Check out the permanent stores in downtown Detroit Lakes. We’re so lucky to have a vibrant downtown with great clothing, home decor and more available. Visit those businesses, too, and tell them how much you love having the Street Faire on Washington Avenue. We know it inconveniences them some, but it’s such a great way to showcase what downtown Detroit Lakes has to offer!
Refer artists to us! Do you know an artist that you think would be great for the Street Faire? Tell them about us or share their contact info with us and we’ll invite them to a future Faire! Artist booth applications are available January 1 of each year.

About the Street Faire at the Lakes

The Street Faire at the Lakes began in 2001 when a group of downtown-loving Detroit Lakes natives came together and dreamt up the idea of having a downtown outdoor art fair. As these things go, rumblings about what the duo was dreaming up got around town and people became intrigued and enthused so they put together a committee. While committees have a reputation for creating horses with two heads, in this case we landed one of the best committees that has ever existed! These amazing folk came together, learned from each other, challenged each other and created the Street Faire at the Lakes! If you’d like to get involved, contact us.
