After seeking as many opportunities as she could\, including spending several summers as a main act on the Medora Musical stage\, Kat followed her undeniable drive and passion for performing and moved to Minneapolis\, Minnesota to pursue music on a more professional scale. \nShe quickly gained the attention of the local Twin Cities music scene by taking stages in the several projects and bands she formed over the years. The most successful being her rock band\, Scarlet Haze\, which went to open for Bon Jovi\, amongst working with some of the music industry’s most well known acts. After a hiatus from performing due to vocal surgery\, Kat made a musical comeback in 2014 by auditioning and appearing on season 6 of NBC’s The Voice. Kat turned 3 chairs during her blind audition\, charted in the top 5 on iTunes several times with her stand-out performances on the show\, and sailed to the finals with help from her coach\, Adam Levine. \nBeing on The Voice brought new platforms of success and opportunities Kat’s way. She’s since gone on an average of two military tours per year to perform for the troops overseas\, sold out venues across America with a variety of themed performances and tours\, and began going into schools to speak to students about following their dreams\, living a Fearless life\, and making a positive impact on the world. That journey led Kat to take her message to corporations all over the world as a keynote speaker. Her Fearless presentation serves as one of the top leadership presentations in the nation using her knowledge of reality television and transferring it into the real world to find success\, joy\, and happiness. The praise Kat received from these presentations even led her to begin a nonprofit foundation\, The Rising Star Foundation\, providing scholarships and opportunity for aspiring musicians while also giving back to the local community. \nKat Perkins Website | Kat Perkins Facebook Page \n\nBest Hotels in Detroit Lakes\, Minnesota\nThe Lodge on Lake Detroit & The Spa Within\nBest Western Premier The Lodge On Lake Detroit\, a Lifestyle Lakefront Minnesota Hotel\, offers a great location and numerous amenities that make us the premier lakefront lodging destination for Historic Holmes Theatre attendees. Singer/songwriters Nathan “Nature” Nesje\, and Muggsy Lauer make up the core of the group with their slick\, well blended vocal harmonies. They are joined by composer/keyboardist George Maurer. \nThrough the years\, the band has performed not only their own music\, but expanded into a new genre: album shows. Starting in 2005 with performing The Beatles “Abbey Road” from first track to last (Come Together to Her Majesty)\, with special guest and semi-band member\, Stacy Bauer\, they jumped into one of their most ambitious projects\, The Beach Boys “Pet Sounds”. That album took an ensemble of over 15 musicians playing an astounding array of instruments from Theramin to timpani\, and included The Vees and The Half Steps. Other album projects have included Simon & Garfunkel “Bridge Over Troubled Water”\, Crosby\, Stills\, Nash & Young “Deja Vu”\, and The Band “The Last Waltz”. \nIf that wasn’t enough\, the group teamed up with The Fabulous Armadillos in 2010 to create a veritable “super group” and have been performing “Takin’ It To The Limit: A Tribute To Eagles”\, and “Takin’ It To The Streets: A Tribute To The Doobie Brothers” ever since. And if even that wasn’t enough\, members of Collective Unconscious have taken part in groups paying tribute to Zed Zeppelin\, Pink Floyd\, Paul McCartney and Wings\, The Guess Who\, The Traveling Wilburys\, George Harrison\, The Blues Brothers\, and John Lennon\, as well as performing in plays\, pit bands\, jazz ensembles\, jug bands\, and this thing we do each February. \nThe Fabulous Armadillos Website | The Fabulous Armadillos Facebook Page \n\n\nBest Hotels in Detroit Lakes\, Minnesota\nThe Lodge on Lake Detroit & The Spa Within\nBest Western Premier The Lodge On Lake Detroit\, a Lifestyle Lakefront Minnesota Hotel\, offers a great location and numerous amenities that make us the premier lakefront lodging destination for Historic Holmes Theatre attendees. SHOW THEME: Tribute to The Eagles Live in Concert. \nNow in their 14th year of performing hundreds of sellout performances of their spot on tribute. The Fabulous Armadillos and Collective Unconscious come together to recreate the magical songs we all know as the premier band of California Rock in the 70’s\, the Eagles. You will hear all the hits and relive the sound of your turntable spinning those incredible albums. SUMMARY:Da Vinci: The Exhibition at The Becker County Museum
DESCRIPTION:Da Vinci The Exhibition at The Becker County Museum\nSeptember 17\, 2023 – January 7\, 2024\nSpecial Event Discount Available\nPurchase Event Tickets Online Separately\nThe Becker County Museum presents Da Vinci: The Exhibition from September 17\, 2023- January 7\, 2024. The experience follows the Renaissance master\, Leonardo da Vinci\, on a journey of innovation\, creativity\, science and wonder. Developed by Aurea Exhibitions and produced by Imagine Exhibitions\, Inc.\, Da Vinci: The Exhibition is a hands-on examination of da Vinci’s life\, research and art. Featuring more than 60 fully built\, life-size inventions\, more than 20 fine art studies and dozens of stunning displays\, guests will learn the complex beginnings and lifetime achievements of da Vinci through his discoveries in art\, engineering\, flight\, hydraulics\, music\, light and more. \nBringing the Da Vinci exhibit to Detroit Lakes is the result of a combination of hard work by Museum staff and some luck resulting from a prior showing in Bozeman being cancelled. This opened an opportunity for the Becker County Museum to fill that spot at a greatly discounted rate (still pricey and with a lot of sponsor support). Normally\, you’d have to travel to cities like Chicago to see exhibits of such a scope as they are too expensive to arrange in towns the size of Detroit Lakes. We are also happy to point out that we have been able to accommodate the entire exhibit in our new facility that is shared by the Historic Holmes Theatre. \nEXHIBIT HOURS: Tuesday-Sunday (Closed Monday) to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a limited engagement through January 7\, 2024. Tickets will be available to purchase online and at the Becker County Museum. \nTICKETS: $25 for adults and $10 for children with annual members of the Becker County Museum receiving discounted admissions. \nLOCATION: The Becker County Museum now shares the entrance and lobby area with the Historic Holmes Museum. You will easily know where to go once you enter the building with our new marquee. \nThroughout the exhibition’s themed galleries\, visitors will discover the breadth and scope of da Vinci’s incredibly advanced understanding of science\, mathematics\, nature\, and the relationship between the three. The artist’s intricate designs and extraordinary early concepts are spotlighted\, including his design for the helicopter\, tank\, SCUBA\, crane\, clock\, submarine and his plan for a modern city. Additionally\, various multimedia experiences and documentary presentations throughout the space will provide a multitude of supplementary information on da Vinci’s discoveries and creative process. \nEach invention featured within Da Vinci The Exhibition was handcrafted utilizing a modern translation of da Vinci’s unique mirrored writing style in an ancient Florentine dialect. Trained artisans used these translations to construct full-scale models and bring the master’s two-dimensional plans to life. \nClick image to enlarge.\nIn addition to da Vinci’s role as an inventor\, the exhibition investigates a collection of da Vinci’s most renowned paintings\, including some controversial works traditionally attributed to him\, but not yet authenticated. Guests will have the opportunity to thoroughly study the artistic mastery behind such works as “Mona Lisa\,” “The Last Supper\,” “Portrait of a Young Man\,” “Virgin of the Rocks\,” “St. John the Baptist” and more. \nThroughout his lifelong devotion to the sciences and fascination with nature\, da Vinci also extensively explored the world of anatomy. Da Vinci The Exhibition’s in-depth and enlightening explanations of his famous studies on subjects such as the golden ratio and “Vitruvian Man” are complemented by enlarged examples of the artist’s sketches and notes made during his controversial research on the human body. \nCEO of Imagine Exhibitions\, Tom Zaller shared\, “Da Vinci was an absolutely incredible man-his art\, inventions\, and research paved the way for life as we know it today. It is Imagine Exhibitions’ pleasure to present this immersive and interactive exhibition at INSERT VENUE as a way for visitors to explore the immeasurable ways that one man has influenced our current understanding of anatomy\, math\, nature\, art\, and machines.” \nCall Hotel Direct at (218) 847-8439 or . . .\nBOOK HOTEL SPECIAL EVENT RATE ONLINEEvent Tickets: $25 adult/ Members $20 | $10 child/ Members $5\nRESERVE DAVINCI EVENT TICKETSAdditional Details\nHotel rate includes only your hotel accommodations\, event tickets sold directly online by the Historic Holmes Theatre. \nBest Western Rewards Points: Earn 10 Best Western Rewards® points per USD. \nAbout Becker County Museum:\nIn 1882\, the citizens of Becker County recognized the need for preservation of the history of their community. The result was the Pioneer Settlers Union. This group\, comprised of many of our founding residents\, actively worked to preserve the history of their community as it was happening. In 1924\, this organization was renamed the Becker County Historical Society which started the Becker County Museum in 1943. All the while the mission stayed the same: “To preserve and communicate the history of Becker County and its people to all generations.” \nThe Becker County Museum is located in Detroit Lakes\, MN and offers 10\,500 square feet of exhibit space. Permanent exhibits include prehistoric (fossil) and Native American history\, natural history\, a pioneer cabin\, logging display\, lake cabin\, turn of the century pharmacy\, military displays\, a textile display\, buggy\, sleigh\, horse drawn hearse\, and the “World’s Smallest Gas Station”. A couple of years of Wednesday nights at the Red Carpet Nightclub in St. Cloud\, MN firmly established the band’s repertoire\, and musicianship\, and kept audiences dancing. \nDuring that time they recorded and released a couple of albums of their original material: Collective Unconscious\, and The Garden. \nA few years later they began performing the Beatles Abbey Road album in its entirety\, from Come Together all the way through Her Majesty (years before tribute bands were a thing). From there they expanded on to Simon & Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water album (with strings and brass)\, CSNY’s Deja Vu album\, The Band’s The Last Waltz (with a cavalcade of guest performers)\, and the epically grand album from The Beach Boys Pet Sounds (with a multitude of multi-instrumentalists playing over 30 different instruments). \nEventually\, CU joined up with powerhouse The Fabulous Armadillos to perform a show called Takin’ It To The Limit: An Eagles Tribute\, which has been entertaining sold-out houses across the midwest ever since. \nCollective Unconscious Website | Collective Unconscious Facebook Page \n\nThe Fabulous Armadillos \nOriginally formed to perform multi-instrumentalist Jeff Engholm’s solo album\, Summit Climb in the year 2000\, Collective Unconscious has grown from those humble roots to become one of Minnesota’s premiere groups. Feeding off musical greats such as Hank Williams\, Jimmie Rodgers\, Muddy Waters\, Mahalia Jackson and Leadbelly he was a travelling musician at 13 and singing\, playing guitar and sax\, in several bands\, before forming Them in 1964. \nMaking their name at Belfast’s Maritime Club\, Them soon established Van as a major force in the British R&B scene. Morrison’s matchless vocal and songwriting talents produced instant classics such as the much covered ‘Gloria’ and ‘Here Comes The Night’. Those talents found full astonishing range in Van’s solo career. After working with Them’s New York producer Bert Berns on beautiful Top 40 pop hit ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ (1967)\, Morrison moved to another realm. \nReflecting on new life in America on the joyous Sinatra soul of Moondance (1970) and the country inflected Tupelo Honey (1971) he summoned old spiritual and ancestral life in the epic St Dominic’s Preview (1972) closer track Listen To The Lion. Double live album Too Late To Stop Now (1973) highlighted Morrison’s superlative performing and bandleader skills. Mapping out a richly varied musical course throughout the 70s he shone among an all-star cast including Bob Dylan and Muddy Waters on The Band’s Last Waltz. \nSettling back into life in the UK in 1980 he released Common One an album centring on Summertime In England an extraordinary invocation of literary\, sensual and spiritual pleasure the song would often become a thrilling improvised centrepiece to his live shows. Steering his own course throughout the 80s on albums such as No Guru\, No Method\, No Teacher he claimed Celtic roots with The Chieftains on Irish Heartbeat. Teaming with Georgie Fame brought new impetus to his live show while Avalon Sunset saw him back in the album and single charts by the decades end. Van Morrison continued to advance on his status as a game- changing artist through the 90s and into the 21st century. \nAwards and accolades – a knighthood\, a Brit\, an OBE\, an Ivor Novello\, 6 Grammys\, honourary doctorates from Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Ulster\, entry into The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and the French Ordres Des Artes Et Des Lettres – attested to the international reach of Van’s musical art. \nVan Morrison Website | Van Morrison Facebook Page \n\n\nBest Hotels in Detroit Lakes\, Minnesota\nThe Lodge on Lake Detroit & The Spa Within\nBest Western Premier The Lodge On Lake Detroit\, a Lifestyle Lakefront Minnesota Hotel\, offers a great location and numerous amenities that make us the premier lakefront lodging destination for Historic Holmes Theatre attendees.
