2025 Detroit Lakes Young Life Triathlon
at Detroit Lakes City Park & Public Beach

August 16, 2025 @ 6:30 am – Noon

The annual Young Life Triathlon launches into the waters of Little Detroit Lake at the City Beach Saturday, August 16, 2025. Hundreds of participants spend the morning swimming, running and biking to the finish line. If you’re looking to get your feet wet, try the sprint course with a 500-meter swim, 20K bike ride and 2.92 mile run. Or look into the stand-up paddleboard and kayak division if you feel swimming-challenged. Make it fun with friends by entering the relay team challenge. Feeling confident? The long course is for you. The 1.5K swim is followed by a 40K bike ride and 10K run. Tired just by reading all of that? Feel free to just cheer on the participants!

This triathlon offers both Sprint and Olympic distances, welcoming athletes of all levels—from seasoned triathletes to first-time participants. The Young Life Triathlon combines athletic challenge with community spirit and charitable purpose. Proceeds support Lakes Area Young Life, a Christian outreach organization dedicated to mentoring and supporting youth in the region.

Young Life Triathlon Schedule

5:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Packet Pickup at City Park Picnic Shelter

6:30 AM: Check-in, packet pickup, and body marking
7:30 AM: Packet pickup closes
7:40 AM: Mandatory pre-race meeting in the transition area
8:00 AM: Race begins
11:30 AM: Course officially closes
Awards Ceremony: Held in City Park immediately after the race
